Dear President Obama:

My whole family is blind and I knew Braille before I went to first grade. I didn't learn to write my name in print until a science teacher at the Illinois School for the Blind offered to teach the students who wanted to learn. I've always been happy about learning to sign my name in print, but I have used Braille all of my life. I keep financial records and write letters. Where would I be without Braille? I hate to think.

Sincerely,
Leanne Mayne
