Accounting Manager

This position’s primary duty is to manage the accounting functions of the blindness organizations at the National Center for the Blind. This role works closely with the top executives of the organizations including the treasurers for each organization. The key functions of this role are to manage the financial data of the organizations including expenditures and receipts, banking data, credit card process management, and audit and year-end preparation. The duties of this role will alter as the organizations continue to develop or re-engineer processes to use electronic tools to increase efficiency and give more financial control and data to executives.

Responsibilities

  • Manage accounting clerk
  • Manage Sage Intacct accounting system
  • Process bank reconcilements
  • Preform and oversee accounting tasks
  • Create monthly financial reports – electronic and Braille-ready formats
  • Review and manage receivable accounts
  • Oversee accounting records and destruction process
  • Provide weekly cash figures
  • Work with department director to re-engineer Accounting processes - department and organization-wide
  • Manage accounting functions at convention
  • Assist department director in managing credit card process from gateway to transaction reporting
  • Manage and create financial reports for Executives as necessary
  • Preform other duties as necessary

Skills

  • Ability and comfort to learn and use computer software
  • Knowledge of Sage Intacct or other cloud-based financial software

Requirements

  • Experience using Sage Intacct financial system or another  cloud-based financial system
  • Experience in nonprofit accounting
  • Experience in or knowledge of lease accounting
  • Bachelor of Science degree in accounting (CPA not necessary)
