I just received my first issue of the Voice. Thank you. It is most
informative. I read with great interest “The Power of Balance.”
The foot care section was most informative. Keep up the good work, and keep
these issues coming.

I’m a diabetic and do very much enjoy your magazine, Voice of the
Diabetic, which I have received for about two years. I read it from front
to back and do enjoy the recipes.
I’m having trouble with my eyes at age 56. I read everything I can.
I’ve filled out a form for you to please send the cassette version to a sister in law in Baxter, TN. She has been blind for 20 or more years. She has a cassette player to listen to books. I’m hoping it’s what she can listen to this one, also. Thank you in advance sincerely for your cooperation. Keep up the good work.

I just spoke with someone there earlier today, to request a copy of the Fall
05 issue of the Voice of the Diabetic newsletter be sent to my podiatrist,
who is also diabetic, and was assured that, if he was not already on your mailing
list, he would be added, so he would see the couple of articles on diabetic
foot-care contained in the Fall 05 quarterly.
I would be remiss if I did not applaud you for this thorough and informative publication, not only for the continuing wealth of information about diabetic care in general, but also that you do operate under the auspices of the NFB. This, it seems to me, does two things: of course, those with any measurable visual deficiency are comforted, knowing the plight of visually impaired have an active organization sensitive to their special needs, and are available to offer counsel, and ideas for making life more fully enjoyable. That by itself is astounding!
Equally as important, I feel, is your NFB affiliation keeps those among sighted diabetics conscious and hopeful, that early changes in lifestyle and or treatment can at least help prevent blindness due to neuropathy, while improving other complications of this illness, also.
I am doubtless not alone in gratitude for such faithfulness, quite well up with the identity of our new century as “The Information Age,” by tailoring “information” to many Americans for whom accessing it brings additional limitations. Just so you know, your work does not go either unnoticed or unappreciated.
Tell me, do you send your mailings to senior centers? There always seems to be a portion of our numbers afflicted with diabetes and/or some complications thereof. If you do, could you confirm the presence or absence on your mailing list of two such facilities in our county? I’ve added their contact info below, so you can make sure more folks our ages and health status have access to such material. My thanks again, in advance.

When I came upon the only copy of the Voice of the Diabetic in a doctor’s
office, I couldn’t believe such a publication existed.
The personal life stories and articles from people of all walks of life, sharing their positive mental and physical adaptations to this disease touched me profoundly.
I furtively placed the issue in my handbag, double checking that it said it was free, I felt I just had to read every word of it when I got home. I then felt quite guilty for taking the only copy, thereby preventing other people from benefitting from it as I had. I then realized how much it would mean to me to carry on the spirit of the Voice of the Diabetic.
I would like to distribute copies to the many places in my community that would definitely benefit from having such a meaningful, personal publication on such a serious illness, that says to us all we can be so much more than a person with diabetes.
