The National Federation of the Blind is the largest organization of blind and low-vision people in the United States. The organization consists of affiliates and local chapters in every state, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. By providing public education about blindness, information and referral services, scholarships, literature and materials about blindness, specialized aids and appliances, adaptive equipment, and support for blind people and their families, the members of the National Federation of the Blind strive to spread the word that the blind are normal individuals who can compete on equal terms with their sighted peers. Together with love, hope, and determination, we transform dreams into reality.

National Federation of the Blind to Award $100,000

Baltimore, Maryland (December 5, 2007): The National Federation of the Blind today launched the Dr. Jacob Bolotin Award Program.  Beginning in 2008, the National Federation of the Blind will present cash awards to individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions toward achieving the full integration of the blind into society on a basis of equality. 

National Federation of the Blind Receives 2007 Mayor’s Business Recognition Award

Baltimore, Maryland (November 21, 2007): The National Federation of the Blind (NFB), the oldest and largest organization of blind people in the United States, was awarded a 2007 Mayor’s Business Recognition Award for civic leadership and outstanding community service on November 20.  The NFB was honored for the innovative Youth Slam program, which took place at Johns Hopkins University in July.

National Federation of the Blind Partners with Santa Claus to Support Braille Literacy
