The Washington and Oregon affiliates of the National Federation of the Blind will cohost an NFB BELL Academy this summer. We invite your child to enhance Braille and nonvisual skills with blind role models in our residential summer program for blind and low-vision children from July 30 through August 4, 2023 at the Washington State School for the Blind in Vancouver, Washington.
This is a residential program for children 8 to 13. Parents will drop students off on July 30 and pick them up on August 4. All meals will be provided onsite. Students will participate in creating their own healthy and nutritious meals throughout the program. It is very important to alert us to any food allergies that may affect food choices.
Registration is $75 per child however, scholarships are available from both the NFB of Washington and the NFB of Oregon for families of limited means.
Donations of $75 to help cover expenses are appreciated.
If your child could use extra support building their Braille skills over the summer as well as practicing nonvisual skills such as orientation and mobility, budget management or assistive technology, then apply today! Program participants will receive a free T-shirt. For additional questions, please contact Kris Colcock.
