Come join us for our NFB Virginia BELL Academy for blind and low-vision children ages 4-12. Weekday program hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with hands-on instruction focusing on Braille, orientation and mobility, independent living, mixed with games, sports, and fun tactile projects. Supplemental activities include a Sunday kick-off event for families, one or two mid-week, early evening excursions including a beach and boating trip, and a Friday evening wrap-up celebration! Lunch will be provided for all student participants. The Sunday kick-off event for families will begin at 4:00 p.m.
Families will be responsible for their own transportation and lodging in Virginia Beach; however, many families may choose to share arrangements to lessen the cost, although there is no cost to attend the program itself.
We have seen many of your children thrive in our virtual NFB BELL In-Home Edition over the past few summers, and although the in-home edition is still being offered this year (July 24-Aug 11), we anticipate even more growth in skills, confidence, and relationship building among those who are able to attend in person.
