The National Federation of the Blind has an extensive list of publications about blindness which would be of interest to parents, educators, and others. A RESOURCE GUIDE FOR PARENTS AND EDUCATORS OF BLIND CHILDREN by Doris M. Willoughty, Copyright 1979- $5.95 This book is full of down-to-earth, practical suggestions of ways to do thing. It is an upbeat, positive approach to work with blind children.
YOUR SCHOOL INCLUDES A BLIND STUDENT by Doris Willoughby, Second edition Copyright 1981- $3.75 This book deals primarily with elementary and high school situations, academic and extracurricular. Special attention is given to industrial arts, home economics, writing Braille with a slate and stylus, physical education, map reading, mathematics, cane travel, and many other topics pertinent to integrating a blind child into the regular school setting.
THE ENCOUNTER by Carl Olson, copyright 1980- $2.25 Blindness in the 1980's is presented with wit and understanding in a cartoon style. This book is right for any audience, all ages, and all occasions.

BLINDNESS AND DISORDERS OF THE EYE by Leo J. Plummer, M.D., Ophthalmologist- $3.95 Dr. Plummer has described in every day terminology twenty-eight eye conditions which can cause blindness. This publication contains an excellent description of the human eye and how it works, as well as some practical suggestions and good advice for individuals who are blind or could become blind.
