Tempe, Arizona (September 5, 2007): The National Federation of the Blind of Arizona, an affiliate of the oldest and largest organization of the blind in the country, the National Federation of the Blind (NFB), will hold its annual convention from Friday, September 7 to Sunday, September 9.  The convention will take place at the Fiesta Inn Resort in Tempe.  Scott LaBarre, president of the National Association of Blind Lawyers, will be the keynote speaker at the convention’s annual banquet.  “The annual convention allows us to renew our dedication of energy, time, and resources toward our work for the blind.  All blind persons and their families, as well as those who are losing vision and parents with blind children, are welcome and encouraged to attend,” said Bob Kresmer, president of the NFB of Arizona.

This year’s convention attendees will organize the first Parents of Blind Children division for the NFB of Arizona.  The convention will provide open dialogue on issues of importance to blind children and parents, specifically the transition process from high school and college to employment.  In addition to national representative Scott LaBarre, Debby Brackett, president of the Florida Organization of Parents of Blind Children, will also offer her expertise during the convention.
