Global Accessibility Awareness Day Webinar: Section 508
The National Federation of the Blind and the US Access Board hosted a one-hour seminar about Section 508 for government employees with disabilities, their supervisors, human resource professionals, and anyone else interested on Global Accessibility Awareness Day. Learn about what it is supposed to do and how people with disabilities can work together to leverage the new ruling. Hear from the U.S. Access Board, the independent federal agency that promotes equality for people with disabilities through leadership in accessible design and the development of accessibility guidelines and standards.

About the Presenters
Ronza Othman is the director of the Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Compliance Group with the US Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Office of Equal Opportunity and Civil Rights. Othman is the current president of the National Association of Blind Government Employees and National Federation of the Blind of Maryland.
Kathy Eng serves as a Senior ICT Accessibility Specialist with the Access Board. She provides technical assistance on Section 508 with a focus on conformance testing. Kathy is co-lead of the ICT Testing Baseline Portfolio, co-facilitator of the W3C Accessibility Conformance Testing Task Force, and chair of the Best Practices subcommittee in the Accessibility Community of Practice (ACOP) of the Chief Information Officers’ Council. Kathy joined the Access Board in 2018.
Tim Elder is a civil rights litigator focusing on disability discrimination cases. He has helped secure injunctions against testing entities for their failure to accommodate disabled students, negotiated groundbreaking settlements with publicly traded companies, tried employment discrimination claims before juries and argued before federal trial and appellate courts.
