PARENT'S SEMINAR IN WASHINGTON
The NFB of Washington is sponsoring an informal
parent seminar on February 19, 1983. It will be an
excellent opportunity for parents in that area to learn
more about blindness from the real expert. . . the

BRAILLE DYMO LABELER
The 3M Braille Dymo Labeler is nor available from the National Center for the Blind at a cost of $37.95. The wheel is labeled in Braille and Print and produces the alphabet, some Grade 2 abbreviations, punctuation marks, the number sign, and the dollar sign. FANTASTIC BUY . . .
TALKING CALCULATORS, CLOCKS
In the interview article with Carol Syslo in this issue,
Carol called the calculator available from the NFB a
"fantastic buy", and so it is. I doubt that you can find
quality, portable talking calculators and clocks
anywhere else at the price offered by the NFB.
The NFB offers a talking calculator, talking clock, and
a combination talking calculator/clock/calendar. All
items are made by Sharp Electronics; all are portable.
The talking clock sells for $58.00. It is about 4M> inches
long and 21/2 inches wide. It has a visual, as well as an
audible, time display. The clock has alarm, timer and
stopwatch capabilities.
The talking calculator is about 5% inches long, 3
inches wide and M> inch thick. Its memory is not erased
when the machine is turned off, and it has square root
and percent keys. Price: $50.00.
The talking combination calculator/clock/calendar is a little larger than the calculator and is priced at $70.00 and it does not have the square root function.

NEWSLETTER FOR PARENTS OF BLIND PRESCHOOLERS
The International Institute for Visually Impaired, 0-7, Inc. publishes the VIP Newsletter for parents of younger blind and visually impaired children. The newsletter is published quarterly. NATIONAL JOURNALISM CONTEST
The President's Committee on Employment of the
Handicapped is sponsoring a journalism contest for all
high school juniors and seniors in participating states.
The topic is: "Independence for Disabled People
Through Technology". Five national winners will be
chosen. Each of these winners will receive a trip to
Washington, D.C., scholarships, and plaques for the
individual and their high schools. State and focal
prizes are available as determined by the State
Governor's committees or
by community committees. The national deadline is March 1,1983. State deadlines
