October 15: NFB Rideshare Rally
The National Federation of the Blind is hosting a Rideshare Rally to protest discrimination against blind people who use guide dogs and white canes.
Representative Steny Hoyer (MD-05), the lead House sponsor of the Americans with Disabilities Act, said, “Equal access to transportation was one of my motivating factors when I championed the Americans with Disabilities Act. It is essential that all Americans with Disabilities have equal access to all forms of public transportation. On this day - Blind Americans Equality Day - I urge all transportation companies – especially companies that provide ride share services – not to discriminate against blind Americans who use white canes or guide dogs.”
