The Braille Monitor welcomes thoughtful, civil letters to the editor in response to any of our articles, as well as article contributions from members, supporters, and friends of the National Federation of the Blind. We are committed to serving as a forum where blind people, as well as their families and friends, can tell their stories, reflect on our movement, and express their views on issues facing our community. Submissions in response to specific articles must engage the arguments presented in those articles; purely personal attacks on individual contributors will not be tolerated.

Consideration of submissions will be guided, among other editorial policies, our organization’s brand, core values, and strategic priorities, as well as the Code of Conduct of the National Federation of the Blind. As stated in our Code of Conduct, the National Federation of the Blind celebrates and embraces diversity, equity, and inclusion as core values in its mission to achieve equality, opportunity, and security for the blind. We respect differences of opinion, beliefs, identities, and other characteristics that demonstrate that blind people are a diverse cross section of society.

Views expressed in the Braille Monitor are not necessarily the views of the National Federation of the Blind; pieces that do reflect organizational policy, such as resolutions passed by the National Convention, will be noted as such. The Braille Monitor takes its obligation to present truthful and accurate content to its readers and the public very seriously. If you believe a correction is needed, please contact the editor.
