Hotel Information and Room Rates:

The 2015 convention of the National Federation of the Blind will take place in Orlando, Florida, July 5-10, at the Rosen Centre Hotel at 9840 International Drive, Orlando, Florida 32819. The 2015 room rates are singles and doubles, $82; and triples and quads, $89. In addition to the room rates there will be a tax, which at present is 13.5 percent. Make your room reservation as soon as possible with Rosen Centre staff by calling (800) 204-7234. At the time you make a reservation, a $95 deposit is required for each room reserved. If you use a credit card, the deposit will be charged against your card immediately, just as would be the case with a $95 check. If a reservation is cancelled before Monday, June 1, 2015, half of the deposit will be returned. Otherwise refunds will not be made.

Guest-room amenities include cable television; in-room safe; coffeemaker; hairdryer; and high-speed Internet access. Guests can also enjoy a swimming pool, fitness center, and on-site spa. The Rosen Centre Hotel offers fine dining at Executive Chef Michael Rumplik’s award-winning Everglades Restaurant. In addition, there is an array of dining options from sushi to tapas to a 24-hour deli. The hotel has first-rate amenities.

Additional Hotel Options:

We’ve arranged for an NFB hotel block at the Doubletree by Hilton Orlando at Seaworld! The Doubletree is less than a mile from the Rosen Centre and has amenities such as flat-screen televisions and microwaves in the rooms, a swimming pool, and several on-property restaurants. To make a reservation, call 800-327-0363 and ask for group code NFB. Depending on your schedule, room rates will be more expensive on certain days. Rates are $89 for the nights of July 7-9. Rates are $159/night for July 3-6 and $179/night for July 10-11.

Additional rooms may be found at a less expensive rate at the Clarion or the Red Roof Inn. You may call to book a room at the Clarion (800-826-4847) with a king or two queen beds for $110/night. Guinness World Record Attempt:

On July 8, 2015, in honor of the seventy-fifth anniversary of the National Federation of the Blind, we will attempt to set a world record by creating the largest umbrella mosaic. In the National Federation of the Blind we know that together with love, hope, and determination we transform dreams into reality. Together—the members of the Federation along with our friends and supporters—will undertake a world record to raise expectations and bring focus to the ongoing mission of our organization. Will you be one of the 3,000 people in attendance at our world record attempt? All you have to do is hold an umbrella up at the designated time to help form the message that will be viewed from above. Sign up now to make history with us by visiting www.nfb.org/gwr. More details about this historic undertaking will be added as they are available!

NFB 75th Anniversary Jewelry:

Commemorate the National Federation of the Blind’s 75th anniversary with style! Treat yourself or a loved one to elegant, handcrafted jewelry which celebrates our diamond anniversary. The 75th Anniversary Organizing Committee commissioned Sorella Jewelry Studio to design this jewelry collection for the NFB. Pendants, charms, rings, and cufflinks are available in various precious metals, including sterling silver; 10K white and yellow gold; 14K rose, white, and yellow gold; 18K rose, white, and yellow gold; and palladium. Each piece is cast in the solid metal of your choice and the recessed background matte finish contrasts beautifully with the high polished raised surface. The jewelry features our logo icon and “NFB 75” in tactual Braille.

You may examine sterling silver samples of the 75th anniversary jewelry at the Independence Market in the exhibit hall. We will also have descriptions of the jewelry available in print and Braille for you to take along. Jewelry orders are placed directly with Sorella Jewelry Studio. You may order online or by phone, at (800) 692-1950.

Free Shuttle Service Between Rosen Centre, Rosen Plaza, and DoubleTree:

The National Federation of the Blind will run convenient shuttles between the Rosen Centre, the Rosen Plaza, and the DoubleTree by Hilton Orlando at SeaWorld from July 5 through July 10 for our seventy-fifth annual national convention. The shuttles will operate throughout the day and into the evening so that convention attendees will be able to easily travel between the three properties. While all convention meetings will be held at either the Rosen Centre or the adjoining Orlando Convention Center, some attendees were unable to get a room at the Rosen Centre and will be staying at either the Rosen Plaza or the DoubleTree. The bus ride between each of the properties is ten to fifteen minutes in duration. It is possible to walk between the Rosen Centre and the Rosen Plaza within about twenty minutes.

The Clarion Inn & Suites and the Red Roof Inn near International Drive are a short walk to the Rosen Centre, therefore bus service is not provided to these properties.

Bus service will typically run in a loop between all three properties. The number of buses increases at peak times. Occasionally, we will run direct service between two properties.

Each morning, bus service begins at 7:30 a.m. from the DoubleTree and 7:45 a.m. from the Rosen Plaza. Buses will run continuously throughout the day. The last bus will depart the Rosen Centre with service to the DoubleTree and the Rosen Plaza at 11:00 p.m.

If you’re worried about whether you can get to the Rosen Centre early enough on Wednesday, July 8, to take part in our Guinness World Record attempt for largest umbrella mosaic–we have you covered. There will be early bus service starting at 6:15 a.m. from the DoubleTree and 6:30 a.m. from the Rosen Plaza that day to ensure participants will be able to reach Rosen Centre in time for the event. Don’t forget to sign up at www.nfb.org/gwr and receive updates as our attempt approaches!

Buses will also be coordinated to ensure members can get back and forth for the banquet. On the night of Friday, July 10, the last bus will depart the Rosen Centre at 11:30 p.m.

At the Rosen Centre, buses are departing from the “Signature 1” exit located behind the escalators on Level 1 of the hotel. These escalators are the only escalators within the Rosen Centre property and are just below the second floor walkway to the Orlando Convention Center.

The bus will depart the Rosen Plaza from the Club 39 entrance just off the main lobby.

The bus will depart the DoubleTree from the bus entrance.

There will be volunteers to help you at all of these locations.

Please note: The bus service is being organized by the National Federation of the Blind, not the hotel, so hotel staff may not be aware of these details. If you have questions, please speak to a volunteer at these locations. If you need any further information, please contact Tracy Soforenko at (202) 285-4595 or Brian McCann at (757) 472-2494.
