LETTERS TO THE EDITOR

November 8, 1997

I was at the hospital in my small town and just

happened to see your paper. It was just what I needed. I have been diabetic for several

years and could never find out anything new about diabetes. I started reading and could

not put it down. Thank you so much. I am having problems with my eyes now. It was so nice

to see all this info about how the disease affects the body.

Thank you again,

Daris Woodley

Thank you very much for the copies of the VOICE

OF THE DIABETIC! We used them during National Diabetes Month. We are giving a copy to

anyone who requests diabetes testing or has family members who are diabetic.

I also sent Cabell-Huntington Hospital's Diabetic

Clinic and St. Mary's Hospital's Medical and Endocrine Clinics copies to hand out to their

patients. Some were also given to a local homeless medical center, Harmony House, to give

to their patients. Copies will be given to Marshall University Blindness Prevention

Program also.

We plan to have additional community events in

the spring for diabetes, and if any copies are left, we will hand them out at that time.

I really appreciate your donation!

Sincerely,

Mary Osborne

...We really thank you for sending us all the

free copies for our diabetic clinics. I plan to take copies to the Oklahoma Diabetes

Coalition meeting this Thursday afternoon. This new edition is excellent, as usual. I read

the great personal article on exercise, the carb counting article, the story of Hazel T.,

the article on the problems with the new medication. I really appreciate the medication

articles most of all. We really talk to our patients about asking their doctors to try the

new medications if their blood sugar is under poor control on their present medications.

Many times a drop in blood sugar through medication will motivate a person to try harder

with their food and exercise.

Thank You,

I am the editor of "Insight," the

journal of the American Society of Ophthalmic Registered Nurses, Inc. I receive VOICE OF

THE DIABETIC. It is a marvelous resource. In the Winter issue, you re-printed the article

"Blind Diabetics Can Draw Insulin Without Difficulty." It is very well written

and the knowledge you share is useful for both diabetics and non-diabetics as well....

Sincerely,

...Your super information-filled newsletter

piqued my interest when I happened to see it and read it in the lobby of our local

hospital...Lady of the Sea Hospital. Thank you for making it available.

...The VOICE OF THE DIABETIC is one of the best

publications I receive and I would like to share it with as many people as I can. I would

be very happy to receive the copies each quarter to be distributed free.
