Volunteer Opportunities

The NFB National Convention relies on hundreds of volunteers to make the event successful, enjoyable, and accessible for all participants.

Experience and skill will vary based on volunteer position. Please refer to the position description for more details. All volunteers are expected to abide by the National Federation of the Blind's Code of Conduct.

If you are looking to get involved, read below for the available volunteer opportunities:

Convention Ambassador

Ambassadors help create a welcoming and empowering experience for all by sharing information, providing directions, and generally serving as a positive influence on the convention. They also help to resolve any issues that may arise.

Become a convention ambassador.

Independence Market Volunteer

Independence market volunteers may serve as demonstrators, storekeepers, or line marshals during market hours. Your volunteer participation ensures that attendees can quickly order, test, and receive their items.

Volunteer for an Independence Market role.

Convention Ally Network

The Convention Ally Network connects individuals who fear discrimination during travel with supportive allies. We are seeking allies who are knowledgeable, respectful of diverse identities, and are willing to affirm their right to independent travel.

Support the convention as an ally.

Support Service Provider

To enhance the national convention for Deafblind attendees, we are seeking Support Service Providers (SSPs) to volunteer their time. SSPs facilitate communication and provide environmental information to Deafblind attendees.

Offer support service to Deafblind attendees.

Spanish Interpretation

Spanish interpreters play a key role in making the national convention accessible by providing written or verbal Spanish translation of the general sessions, division meetings, and other events.

Sign up to offer Spanish interpretation.
