The Top Six Ways to Give this Holiday Season
It’s that time of year. The temperature starts to drop, our calendars fill up with holiday party invites, and we scramble to find the best turkey recipes online. It’s also the time of year when the spirit of the season inspires us to give.
We know that this time of year is also hectic, so we’ve rounded up the top six ways to donate to the National Federation of the Blind.
- AmazonSmile – When you shop on AmazonSmile, it’s a win-win for all. You get fantastic deals on the gifts you buy, and we get a donation to give the gifts of training, literacy, advocacy, and support to the nation’s blind.
- GreenDrop – Whether you’ve received lots of gifts or if one of your New Year’s resolutions is to declutter, you’re going to need to sort through your possessions. Instead of throwing unwanted items away, why not set up a pick-up with GreenDrop? They take anything from clothing to kitchenware to toys and games.
- The NFB Donations Page – Giving online is a fast and easy way to make a difference. While you’re there, you can browse our site to see exactly what your donation supports and learn about some of the people that the NFB helps. If you’re not a member, you can sign up on the site too.
- Pledgeling – Pledgeling has teamed up with Evite to help you give back. When putting together your holiday or New Year’s party invitations through Evite, you can now accept charitable donations in lieu of party gifts that will benefit the NFB. You and your friends can raise a glass while raising expectations for blind people.
- Vehicle Donation – We have partnered with Vehicles for Charity to process vehicle donations. We receive a monetary donation for every vehicle, which funds programs that help blind people be the drivers of their own lives.
- Combined Federal Campaign – If you or someone you know is a federal government employee, you can opt-in to the Combined Federal Campaign and have your donations automatically deducted. Search for Blind Federation of America, CFC number 11162.
Donating this holiday season shows that you know that blindness is not the characteristic that defines blind people or their futures. Your support will ensure that we can continue to raise the expectations of blind people, because low expectations create obstacles between blind people and their dreams. Your contribution will help them live the lives they want, because blindness is not what holds them back.
