KIDS WITH CANES
The Nebraska Rehabilitation Services for the Visually Impaired, with the assistance of the
University of Nebraska, has produced a videotape
showing young children learning cane travel. The
tape which is entitled "Kids With Canes," is both
instructive and enjoyable to watch. Just over 30
minutes in length, it shows youngsters of approximately
ages five to ten in situations such as the
following: the very first cane travel lesson,
walking in a residential area, crossing a downtown intersection, finding a room in a school building
and finding playground equipment in a park. The
comments of several parents are recorded as part
of the sound track.
"Kids With Canes" is highly suitable for viewing
by parents, teachers, students and anyone else
interested in the education and independence of
blind children.
The N.F.B. Committee on Parental Concerns has
been given permission by the Nebraska
Rehabilitation Services for the Visually Impaired
to make "Kids With Canes" available on an at-cost
basis. To order you may use the following form.
