Atlanta Site of 2007 NFB Convention

The
2007 convention of the National Federation of the Blind will take place in Atlanta,
Georgia, June 30 through July 6, at the Marriott Marquis Hotel at 265 Peachtree
Center Avenue, Atlanta, Georgia 30303. For room reservations call (404) 521-0000.

The 2007 room rates are singles, doubles, and twins $61 and
triples and quads $66 a night, plus a 15 percent sales tax. The hotel is accepting
reservations now. A $60-per-room deposit is required to make a reservation.
Fifty percent of the deposit will be refunded if notice is given to the hotel
of a reservation cancellation before June 1, 2007. The other 50 percent is not
refundable.
Rooms will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Reservations may be made before June 1, 2007, assuming that rooms are still
available. After that time the hotel will not hold our block of rooms for the
convention. In other words you should get your reservation in as soon as possible.
Guestroom amenities include cable television, coffee pot, iron
and ironing board, hair dryer, and high-speed Internet access. The Marriott
has several excellent restaurants. The hotel is currently undergoing renovations
that will result in some alteration in the configuration of these. We will report
on the changes as the convention draws near. It still features indoor and outdoor
pools, solarium, health club, whirlpool, and sauna.
We strongly recommend preregistering for the convention itself
online or by mail any time starting March 1 and ending May 31. The 2007 convention
will follow what many think of as our usual schedule:
Saturday, June 30 Seminar Day
Sunday, July 1 Registration Day
Monday, July 2 Board Meeting and Division Day
Tuesday, July 3 March for Independence and Opening Session
Wednesday, July 4 Tour Day
Thursday, July 5 Banquet Day
Friday, July 6 Business Session
