During the past twelve

months, the National Federation of the Blind has been as vigorous and as active

as it has ever been. Our programs to assist blind children and adults have continued

at an accelerating rate, and we have undertaken new initiatives as well. Although

the Federation is expanding in size and diversity, we remain committed to the

The National Federation of the Blind

has had a year of unprecedented growth and progress. During the past twelve

months, we have accepted greater challenges than ever before in our history,

and we have found a way to meet those challenges with results exceeding the

expectations of us all.

At the fiftieth anniversary of our founding as a nationwide

civil rights organization of blind people, the National Federation of the Blind

has the enthusiasm, the know-how, and the determination to meet the problems

faced by the blind and to ensure that we go the rest of the way to independence
