The National Archives of the Blind People’s Movement collects, preserves, and shares materials related to non-medical aspects of blindness, with particular emphasis on the organized blind movement. The Archives is the only formal historic collecting repository in the country that is owned and controlled by the blind themselves.

Visiting the Archives
The National Archives of the Blind People’s Movement is located at the National Federation of the Blind national headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland. We welcome researchers interested in non-medical aspects of blindness to visit our reading room, the Jacobus tenBroek Library.
We provide facilities for using our collections, regardless of format, by both blind and sighted readers. We welcome walk-in readers, but to maximize the benefit of visiting the archives, we urge you to request an appointment.
