The Marketplace is a powerful initiative of the National Federation of the Blind—connecting blind-owned businesses with one another, with the broader community, and with opportunities to grow and thrive. As the transformative membership and advocacy organization of the blind in America, the NFB is uniquely positioned to build a trusted space that amplifies blind entrepreneurship and drives innovation. This directory is built in coordination with our National Association of Blind Merchants.

Why The Marketplace?

We want to concentrate the innovation and quality work of blind businesses so more people can use their dollars to support authentically blind owned businesses. This central hub for blind-owned businesses promotes visibility, fosters connection, and delivers real opportunity - all within the authentic, empowering ecosystem of the National Federation of the Blind.

What Is a Blind-Owned Business?

A blind-owned business is any for-profit or nonprofit venture that is:

  • At least 51% owned and controlled by one or more blind individuals, and
  • Led and operated by those individuals on a daily basis, with authority over major decisions.

Verification Policy

Businesses listed in The Marketplace self-certify that they are majority-owned and operated by individuals who are blind. We may request optional documentation or perform random verification to ensure trust and integrity.

If you believe that a business listed does not meet the definition blind owned and operated please send your detailed concerns to [email protected]. The Federation reserves the right to investigate as needed and remove businesses from our listing.
