New York City (May 20, 2009): The Reading Rights Coalition, representing more than 15 million print-disabled Americans, has denounced publishing giant Random House, which has turned off text-to-speech on all of its e-books available for Amazon’s Kindle 2 reading service.

National Federation of the Blind Congratulates NASA on Successful Mission

This unique coin commemorates the birth of the inventor of the reading and writing code for the blind and is the first United States coin to contain tactile, readable Braille.

Louis Braille Coin to be Launched into Space on May 11

Baltimore, Maryland (May 7, 2009): The 2009 Louis Braille Bicentennial Silver Dollar, the first coin ever to feature readable Braille, will fly on NASA space shuttle Atlantis on May 11, 2009. The coin will be launched into space on mission STS-125, which will service NASA's Hubble Space Telescope.

National Federation of the Blind Awards $100,000

Baltimore, Maryland (July 7, 2008): The National Federation of the Blind presented $100,000 in cash awards to individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions toward achieving the full integration of the blind into society on a basis of equality.  The first-ever
